kidnapper nabbed trying to collect ransom
MUMBAI:A 32-year-old unemployed BSc graduate,Umesh Bhagwat had been arrested by the police after kidnapping a six-year-old boy on Tuesday.
According to report,the boy was coming from school around 6pm on Tuesday when he and a classmate got into a fight and Bhagwat pretended to settle the fight between the two.
He then used the opportunity to kidnap the boy.
From a PCO at Vidyavihar station he called the boy's father demanding for a ransom of Rs2 lakh in cash.
The child's father who is an autorickshaw driver informed the police about the crime.
However,after the information was passed,the police donned a different get-up to catch the accused red handed plan.
The officers changed from their khaki clothes into outfits worn by rickshaw drivers,hawkers and balloon sellers to hide their identity.
With the child's photograph and a clue of how he looked,they laid a trap.
As Bhagwat arrived for the ransom with the boy at the planed point,he was arrested.
Bhagwat had been charged for his crime.
